Oak Royal Golf and Country Club is an ongoing success story which continues to attract new members to one of the best nine-hole set-ups in the North West of England.
Since its opening in 2007, it has brought admiring comments from people who mix in the upper echelons of the game, including recently retired PGA chief executive Sandy Jones.
The owner and his family are justifiably proud of club which boasts an impressive hotel in stunningly beautiful surroundings and a professional shop catering for members and visitors.
Sandy Jones has a name plaque on one of the seven bridges spanning the stream which winds its way through the course and since then former Open champion Darren Clarke and fellow European Tour winner Lee Westwood have similarly been honoured.
It will be difficult to find comparison anywhere in the area of its expansive, all-year-round greens meticulously designed and built to USGA standard.
It’s hardly surprising that our venue in the village of Withnell near Chorley and situated in stunning countryside was fast-tracked into the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs whose delegates admitted being pleasantly taken aback when they inspected the course all those years ago.
